Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does "independent" mean?
A: Being independent means we do not make the decisions; you do, we
advise you or your business as to the most appropriate steps to take
and leave the decision making making to you.
Q: What is the difference between a 'consultancy' and an 'agency'?
A: The difference lies in the value-add from the engagement-model. A
consulting firm will offer advice to you to deal with a business
problem and suggest a solution to resolve, an agency will supply a
resource to fix a problem at your request. Differentia Consulting is
happy to engage in all ways possible to help clients. Sometime we
are asked to provide a resource, and then we identify a larger issue
that requires resolution via a consulting approach; other times via
our marketed solutions we are are asked to engage only on a
consultative basis. We would always suggest that you call a
consultancy first, such as ours, when you have a resource
requirement because often with a brief conversation with one of our
solution experts a more appropriate way to deal with a business
issue can be found, based upon the knowledge that we can share of
other clients.
Q: I heard the term "trusted advisor" what does it mean?
A: A trusted advisor is a somebody with specific knowledge on a
subject that can impart impartial advice to others. Differentia
Consulting prides itself in being able to be used as a trusted
advisor; and we aim to be the trusted advisor to the clients and
partners that we work with. We ask that you call us when ever you
need some advice or guidance.
Q: I heard the term "applications unlimited" what does it mean?
A: Applications Unlimited is the marketing message being given by
Oracle to support the brands that they wish to market. Both JD
Edwards products are part of Applications Unlimited, meaning these
products are on the development path for a current indefinite basis.
In truth this means for at least five years from the release date of
the latest cumulative release. A fantastic commitment indeed
and by no means looking to 'force' migrate customers to other
products - just making any migration a 'road-mapped' possibility.
